Do not cut away the 'metal panel'. It provides structural integrity and your gas tank is pressed up against it. If you remove your first aid kit from the rear shelf it would allow the bass to enter the passenger compartment easier. Check to see how much it would cost to have your present alternator rewound for a higher current availability.
