The prob. with the AMG's to date is the automatic-only policy, though this could also be considered an advantage. My "perfect" car is an M5, but if I had to commute in LA traffic everyday I'd buy an E55 instead.

funny you should mention this... I have a friend with a C32 who raced an E46 M3 with the SMG-II shifter, and the C32 beat him by a little. Things to take into consideration: the bmw was n/a, the mercedes was supercharged, both have the same displacement (if i'm not mistaken), and both had a form of automatic (although SMG-II wins hands down in that department). I'm sure if you slapped a dinan supercharger on the M3 it'd be a MUCH different story
