In need someone to look at the RF axle shaft on a ML. Please tap on it and listen if it sounds hollow. From pics, it looks like the center shaft is friction welded tube to 2 splined ends.

I'm trying to come up with a way to custom build rear CV shafts. If they are hollow I can cut weld like a drive shaft.
