Regarding acceleration, yes, I understand a perfectly tuned and maintained W116 300SD can (should) accelerate like this. This car, however, having sat virtually unused, is pretty far out of perfect tune right now, so I'd expect it to perform a bit more sluggishly.

Regarding higher speeds and rpms, surely 4,000 rpms at 70 mph is not stock spec, right?
