Don't know if this car has same design rear suspension... but springs demand respect.

ABSOLUTELY! ALL vehicle parts demand respect, ESPECIALLY anything held up by a jack, or supported on stands...
follow all rules, and procedures when lowering the subframe, and don't get any body parts between surfaces!
