I am 58. I think back on all the ill-advised repairs I did on cars in my 20's and 30's, often w/o the proper tools and I sure wish they had the internet then. Even worse, was when I relied on mechanics, w/o Yelp and Angie's List to help screen the turds. In those days, you had to rely on scraps of mis-information from relatives, geezers at the barber shop, and mechanics with their own agenda, though shop manuals were probably better written then.
