To clear the sump I will swap the 95 w124 sump onto the om606.962. Hopefully it precludes me from dropping down the chassis point of contact for the sway bar brackets. Thank you for suggesting that option.

gsxr has a list of sway bars, the fattest is a rare one off a 124 Limo.
one conversion used a CDI oil pan to overcome fit problem in a Land Rover:
"3.2 CDI engine has a rear bowl sump and is compatible with the OM606 engine"
