One exception - Panic acceleration. Push HARD to the floor to trigger the kickdown switch and hold it until you hit ~4500 RPM then back off to 3/4 throttle. Listen to that turbo sing... You WILL scoot along!

I have found this to be so true in all of my diesel MBs. If you mash it, it doesn't have as much power. 3/4 throttle it feels more powerful. You really have to know how to drive these cars to get the use of the torque.
I haven't come to a conclusion why this is true about our cars however.
