Hi all,

My 1978 300SD has recently started to smell like diesel when running. At the airport parking lot, I did a smell check and it smells like diesel towards the front of the engine and not the rear. When I got home, I looked it over - fuel lines, filters, return fuel lines and nothing looks or feels wet.

I did notice that the front of my injector pump is wet however. I tried to see if something was leaking on it, but I couldn't tell. The injector pump itself is dry, except for the front end which faces the radiator.

I have attached pictures with arrows pointing to wet diesel fuel on the pump.

If it is the Injector Pump, I am out of my league on this one, I think. Please take a look at the pictures and give me your thoughts.

I like to solve this one at a reasonable cost....
