I would be very concerned until I ruled out timing chain/tensioner issues, then a little concerned afterward until I discovered the source.

If the car has well over 100k miles and the chain has never been renewed, it is due. You can easily remove one of your valve covers to inspect the chain and at least one of the upper guides. Have a new gasket in hand. If the chain is the source, stop driving it until it and the upper guides are replaced.

Otherwise, remove your drive belts and start it one at a time to try to isolate the source to one of the accessories (alternator, ac compressor, water pump etc.).
