Boot is definitely ripped, but there is still some grease inside. I grabbed a large syringe and put in about 40 grams of grease and went for a test drive and the noise is gone. With that being said, is it ok to proceed with changing out the boots tomorrow or do I now need a new axle? Thanks.

If the noise disappeared by adding grease, then the axle is probably ok. Please dont drive the car with a ripped boot as the centrifugal force slings out all grease.
Get about 4 packs of CVJ grease from NAPA and refresh the joints and give them a real good wash to remove any dust/dirt that has gotten into the joint from the torn boots, You will need some anerobic sealant for the diff flange mount and some rubber to metal sealant on the boot to shaft joint to make a first class repair job.
