FS 1987 300TD

Well folks it's time for me to sell the wagon. It's been a fun 5.5 years but it's time to move along.

$5500

1987 300TD
White with blue interior

I have fixed or updated many things on this car, here is a list:
- Rebuilt front suspension (new tie rods, link, LCA bushings, front wheel bearings, brakes only have a few thousand miles on them)
- Rebuilt rear suspension (new link rods, new SLS shocks, replaced rear wheel bearings, rebuilt parking brakes, replaced rear brake calipers and pads and rotors)
- Replaced differential with one from 300D (same ratio)
- Replaced fan clutch/fan with plastic one from OM606, replaced belt tensioner hardware
- Injectors rebuilt by Greazzer
- Replaced water pump
- Replaced vacuum pump with the kind that doesn't blow up
- Replaced radiator
- Replaced a/c compressor and condenser, converted to R134a
- Replaced alternator and wiring with one from 300E from early 90s
- Original Becker 780 radio, serviced by Becker, with Aux Input, new antenna mast
- Added keyless entry, picture shows 1 key and 1 remote, I actually have both keys and both remotes available.
- Repaired wiring in hatch to rear defroster (the wire usually breaks from flexing from the hatch opening and closing)
- Replaced limit switches in rear hatch lock, door closing assist works perfectly and the lights shut off like they should.
- Replaced 3rd stop light with one that isn't cracked
- Replaced both tail lights (after an extensive eBay search, MB originals are hard to find!)
- Replaced gauge cluster from a 1994 W124, with the upgraded illumination.
- Replaced wiper and heater blower from early 90s 124

Practically everything still works, ac, heat, sunroof, all lights, all windows, central locking, power seats, the memory still works!

It does have the #14 head but has not been overheated to my knowledge. No oil in coolant or coolant in oil or maintained pressure overnight. It has always started right up no matter what for the 5.5 years I've had it (except for that one time a month ago, that the rear tailgate lock switch failed and left the dome lights on for several days, and discharged the battery).

Seats are in decent condition, the nearly indestructible blue MB Tex has held up well. Drivers seat bottom cushion shows a little wear.

Interior is a little rough, would be a great candidate for an interior swap.

Note, like many 124s, when I got the car, the odometer was not working. The odometer in the car was swapped in from another 124 with the same rear end ratio. This odometer does accurately count mileage so it can be trusted for setting maintenance intervals. Car has a clean title except for Exempt from Odometer Disclosure (due to greater than 10 years old). I suspect the total mileage is somewhere around 250k or so.

I will also include a whole trove of 124 parts that I picked from the JY, including:
- passenger airbag, dashboard, knee bolster, controller and harness
- interlocked shifter and brake pedal assembly
- couple spare Becker radios
- couple extra instrument clusters
and a whole bunch more stuff that my wife will be glad is out of the garage.

Car is located in Columbia, SC
