Many of the MB plumbing fittings are metric non-tapered thread (I don't have any hands-on with the 190 but both of my OM617's have this feature). There will be an O-ring under the head of the fitting that acts as a seal. Take the old fitting to your Parker or Swagelok store and they'll hook you up with a plug if that's the way you want to go. Or, as stated above, just keep an eye on what you have.


I'd agree that someone probably replaced your originally non-turbo engine with a turbo engine but didn't want to commission the turbo in the non-turbo chassis - though it would have been worth the effort! Diesels LOVE boost!
