Along the line of scented fuel - the DSR (Detroit Street Railway, the old Detroit bus company) tried a rose oil sent in the fuel back in (IIRC) the 50's. Made the busses smell like rose-scented Diesel - not pleasant! So that experiment, at least, was a failure.
