Back to the OP, we have a few traffic lights around here on the one half mile marker. In other words they are located halfway between major intersections. I've noticed these are "blind" intersections in that homeowners have allowed hedges to grow up and block the view or there are large fences blocking the view, especially for traffic coming from the left.

I've noticed big trucks regularly blow the red lights traveling 50 MPH+++ coming down the main thoroughfare..........

As a result, I am now trying to exit the neighborhood going out onto the main street TURNING RIGHT ONLY from non-traffic light controlled entrances....
