Buttom line? On my scanner, it seem's to work and give's me that extra working latitude.
The image was fuzzier but with the right sharpening it was superior to the 1200ppi.
ps; interpolation (4600ppi) dos not work as well on strong 45degrees dark lines (sorry not shown here)
