same here....

My pre-filter got really really dark so I poured in a tube of diesel doctor. Drove it for .. dont remember.. few hundred or 1000+ mi.

then I replaced the fuel filters and until now the pre filter is still clean and the fuel still looks nice and yellow. (looked grey/black last time)
