Not as messy as GM and other cars that don't have a drain plug in the transmission pan. At least most of the fluid can be drained from the MB transmission by removing the dip stick connection.

The drain for the torque converter is easy once you find it. You have to turn the torque converter and look for the drain plug. I think you need a 6mm allen wrench to remove the plug.
