When we lived in Ca we were in a pine forest and constantly dealing with carpenter ants. They would feed on the sap in the trees and nest in the house-in the ceiling mostly. Never saw a single ant inside the house but there was sawdust coming down from the plank ceiling in places. I would follow the trails into the forest and spray along the way-sometimes hundreds of feet and up into the tree as far as I could reach. We had hundreds of tall trees close enough to the house so it was quite a effort to attempt to control them. They were never attracted to any kind of commercial ant bait. We had ants inside the house once here and I used the Terro ant bait and never had them again in the 3 years we have been here.
