The M112 is a great engine, but it is very thirsty compared to a Bluetec diesel. At higher fuel costs that adds up fast! They can also develop lifter ticking at higher miles....mine is starting to do it now around 162k....and my bro and dad's both did it too.

I can drive my GLK (equally fast...heavier, more capable, more comfortable) for about 1000 miles for $104 at current diesel prices.

The same in my E320 wagon would cost $210....and thats being generous. Most of the time around the city when I use it I am getting about 14-16mpg. My GLK does 29-30.

$100+ saved every 1,000 miles of driving, even more if doing all freeway with the diesels....I saw as high as 39.5mpg on a 100 mile trip last week!
