Has that e300td been--super reliable-value/cost wise?

Just getting into my 1st one- what should i look out for- besides the leaking o rings and plastic fuel hoses?

thx
I bought the car in '04 with 46k miles on it, so 18 years to put on the last 484k+. The car has been very reliable, but that hasn't come cheap. You mention fuel hoses and o rings. Those are items I replace (whether leaking or not) at the same time I replace the GPs -when the intake manifold is removed.

Other than that, the a/c system has been replaced twice. I'm on my third power steering rack. Third alternator (the first went 386K). All injectors have been replaced (smooth start even below 20F). IP has new seals - parts were like $10, but labor was around $400 IIRC. I have the transmission serviced every 50K (it is the original) and I change the oil every 10k. I drive a lot between central TX, Houston and Dallas so they're pretty easy miles.
