Price distributor caps and rotors before you settle on using that system. The 96 - 99 V12 ( 02 in the SL600 ) use the same coil on plug as the similar year S420 and E420 . The 95 and older V12 valve cover will probably be different but might be able to be modified. I'd even investigate other engines that have a narrow coil.
It might be tempting to use 2 GM V6 modules / coil packs from V6. Feed it a crank signal then use your ECU to adjust timing.

Sequential only helps idle quality, maybe emissions.

I'd be tempted to put a balance tube between the two throttle bodies to eliminate one engine fighting the other especially at idle. ( I'm not sure if this engine has that already or not. )
