In trying to figure this out - would there be an exhaustive diagnostic scanner for E300s that I can buy without paying an exorbant anount?
If it comes down to a 'driver error' where can I get my ECM reprogramed?

I’m not sure on the scanner part, I am not up to date with that stuff. I think autel has a scanner that’s capable id look into it. Also, don’t just buy an ECU, they’re programmed upon vin. Your ignition will not work with a random ECU.
