Like most, I could not stand the runflats on my 2014 E250 bluetec and put on regular tires. Currently no spare...but....here is my thought...

I have a 16" donut from a VW sportwagen. It has the same bolt pattern as the mercedes does (5 x 112MM). My thought was to replace the rubber on the donut rim with a T135/ 90 R16. That puts it only 1/10th of an inch less in diameter than the 245/45 R17.

So I have the correct bolt pattern, correct tire size...what else am I missing?

Has anyone else tried using a VW rim on their mercedes? Thoughts?

I can't imagine a mercedes donut spare would be all that different than the VW.
