Chassis Ear To Find Where Noises Are Coming from
They are generically called Chassi Ears.
Something I needed like over 40 years ago. But I have one now.
Mine is an inexpensive one from Temu.com. Around $40. Amazon sells what appears to be the same one with a different name for around $88.
So, you clip one of the clips near or on the part you want to listen to and run the wire to the control box with the headphones connected to it and listen to see where the noise is coming from.
I have not tried it on any vehicles yet but connected a lead to my distiller that has a fan and listened to that from the other room and tried it on all 6 channels. They all worked.
The clamps look like typical clamps, but the springs are stronger.
Especially if a noise only shows up while you are driving this could help you locate where the nose is coming from.
The draw back is of course a clamp can come off and wires can get damaged. However, the wire just looks like typical small speaker wire like you would use on headphones or small computer speakers.
Fairly cheap to replace. The claps could be a bit more difficult. I don't think you can find the stronger springed clamps and you need to attack your own wire connector to them.
The more expensive ones are wireless. But the transmitters are fairly bulky, and the methods of attachment seem poor.
Well, it was cheap to buy.
