Bump what? Are you going through this?
I had this happen on my 82. It occurred when I engaged two of the selector arms at the same time due to a slipping actuator arm. On the later 240d there is a screw down the hollow actuator shafts at the transmission. Down shaft is an Allen screw that had worked loose on one of my control arms. The shifter would lock up if the prior gear hadn’t gone into neutral before shifting to the next gear.
