Hoosiers- very sticky, don't take long to heat up, but life is short, and (on a roadrace course) once they get hot and go away, they are GONE and you'll be doin the slippy dance.

Kumho-I have no personal experience with, have heard both good and bad- I've heard lots of praises from ITA honda guys, But complaints from ITB vw guys (they say too long to heat up and one side of the tire is designed softer than the other,,therefore they can't be turned around and run the opposite direction) I don't know, like I say, I have no experience with these yet

BFG-comp T/A everyone in the porsche club and all the SCCA A-sedan racers loved em....But the new BFG G-force is another story, all the porsche club guys and SCCA A-sedan guys hate em! A SCCA pro team was doing some testing of the new BFG G-force at heartland park early in the season. I know one of the drivers personally and he was complaining that they couldn't get any speed out of the G-forces. Guess what tire they were using as a "control"(baseline) for their testing????Hoosiers!

Toyo-my choice on my roadracecar and personal favorite. Toyos are not as sticky as hoosiers,BUT I have been able (through religious rotation) to get 10-12 race weekend out of the toyos. The hoosiers don't last near as long on my particular application. The toyos take a lap or two to "get em hot", but they are very, very stable tires,,and if you start to get a little abusive and overdrive them (to the point that they feel greasy),,you can just back out of it a little (200-300rpm) for about a lap and they come right back! They can also be rotated (turned around) to run either direction. They only need to run the required direction if you use them with full tread in the rain. I use full treads for rain and shave all my "dry" tires to 3-4 32's of an inch.

Just my observations after racing and instructing for 6 years for scca,BMW,&Porsche club events.(in the midwest region)

Some specs on my car: 1986 190 2.3 16-valve
2680 pounds w/driver+2gals of fuel
-3.2 front camber, 1/16 front toe in, 11deg pos caster.

-3.0 rear camber,locked diff (3.69:1 gear),no rear toe

Hope this helps
