It is not uncommon to see the need to replace the alternator. If this is necessary, buy a good one, not a chain store rebuilt.

Before buying an alternator, however, check the two heavy spade lug connectors and the wiring between the alternator and battery connection which is I believe on the starter post. I had this happen before and I simply repaired the connector.
