I just dug up this thread in order to show the picture, and realized I didn't post the "final resolution." Unfortunately, my stop lever is unique to the 1980 240 with manual tranny, so it was a dealer only part at over $50. The rubber cement and wire in the picture only held for one day, so ordered the replacement from Caliber Motors for about $35. I would highly recommend them when you have to get parts from a dealer.
