I recently replaced both of mine with the new spring-guarded type...definitely worth the $$ and the time, just for your peace-of-mind. New hoses are WAY cheaper than new trannys!

Also, check the little brackets that secure the hard-lines to each side of the engine. A couple of mine had lost the rubber grommets to dry rot, and engine vibration eventually caused them to wear a HOLE in the metal line ---- and I was pi$$ing tranny fluid all over the ground on TWO different occasions! I replaced both of those lines as well, of course, along with the brackets and grommets.
