The implied but not stated observation is that more theft occurs in high volume stores and receipt checking is a form of loss prevention.
At least they are not as thorough as going into federal buildings (speaking of high volume stores), where you are subject to both metal detectors and a hand pat down. They can do this on the way out, too.... Tell the fed cops to f***k themselves and see what they do....

‘Course the other side of the story (as at least one member might point out) is that since the stores are corrupt, their only recourse is to protect their corrupt nature by adding security rather than remove the corruption and just give everything away.
