fixed bearing but not noise?

Front left. Had a 'hum' that increased in speed, independent of engine speed. Slightly audible going straight, much louder when left side is loaded by ponderously swerving to the right. So....

Replaced inner/outer bearings/seal, with MB grease. Did not see any marks on the races.

Noise is the same! [grrrr] Any ideas? The noise changes very slightly if I brake, but not dramatically. But could it be a brake prob? Guess I could rotate the tires too.

{past history-replaced front bearing about 5000 miles ago at a garage in a small town on a road trip. Did not see mechanic back off on the nut, so 'assumed' that this was the bearing issue. I had previously rotated tires before THAT repair. }
thanks in advance....
