In my field, public education, things have been getting bad for a long time. Since 1988 our school has nearly tripled in size. Full time faculty have been reduced from 120 plus to less than 60. Part-time faculty have increased from 0 to 400. Part-time faculty get paid 15k a year for a full-time teaching load with no benefits at all and no guarantee of employment past the end of the semester.

And yet folks wonder why public education has gone to hell!....
I wouldn't teach under those circumstances, no matter how much I loved it, and I don't see how you deal with it. Ridiculous.
Three ideas:
Good teachers need to be paid what they are really worth.
Bad teachers need to be immediately fired--no tenure.
And people need to STOP BREEDING for a while!
