Ok, to the issue at hand (or is it seat?)

85 380sl: Seat belts are locking up. Last time it happened it was in the "open" position so it didn't bother me too much as I could still use the belt. But now it's locked in the retracted state. Mysteriously it started happening on both sides...????? Is this centrally controlled or merely a coincidence that both sides are acting up? Any tips on a fix.

BTW, a search yielded info on a '90 Sl...most likely a different animal.
