Hello Everyone
A battery running a block heater through an inverter will last about half an hour; if you are lucky.

I have seen a couple of butane and propane block heaters that worked very well, you loose trunk space for them.

I have done several conversions: in the 1970’s
#1. Remove MB oil filter housing; install adapter and high pressure hoses to remote multi staged four engine oil filter assembly, or two doubles.
#2. Install automotive racing type remote oil sump and circulation system.
#3. Install thermostatic grill louvers.
#4. Install block/water jacket, engine oil and radiator heaters.
#5. Use light weight high quality oil; or today synthetic oil.

The combination worked very well.
It was not cheap, but the customers where happy.
One owner worked on the Alaska pipeline, on average he left the car running for three too five weeks.
The last time I saw the car was 1982 and he was still driving it every day; he retired to Hudson Bay, Canada.
