In those subsequent twenty plus years it has been exceptionally reliable, probably the most reliable car I have owned. If it self-destructed tomorrow I could not complain. It owes me nothing as I have enjoyed twenty years of motoring pleasure with it.

Since posting that all those months ago I have had to do all the following to my '73 350SLC:
1. Left-hand and right-hand outer tie rod ends (at about AUD$15 each).
2. Oil and filter change (about AUD$12 for the filter and AUD$24 for oil).
3. Blown left-hand headlight globe. I must remember to replace this on the weekend.
This list is so long I'm worried this thing will send me broke. And to think it is only 30 years old and around 350,000km.
Sorry for the sarcasm, I just couldn't resist. My 107 is a reliable old car. I never have any concerns as to its reliability and would not hesitate to take it on a long journey tomorrow. All this despite it being neglected for the first ten years of its life before I purchased it.
