If you have the complete donor car at your service for the necessary cable harness, relays and compu's, it might be a transplantation worth trying.
If not...the only advice I can give you is to buy a second car to drive in during the months it will take you getting your car to function again.
I have seen it happen with someone who tried to transplant a 1996 C250 Turbo Diesel into his C250 Diesel (which looked very easy and simple), but his car was out of use for several months!
I have considered changing my 1993 C250 Diesel's engine for a 1999 C220 CDI (with a complete donor car at my service) but figured it would not be worth the trouble and STRESS...
