Take the cover off under the dash on the drivers side. Stick you hand up to the back of the cluster and push it out from behind.
You can make the tool. I used a wire coat hanger. Bend the wire as desired and file the end of the wire smooth so you don't have any sharp edges that could cut the dash or cluster housing. It works fine in my 123s.
