I have the same "problem". My suggestion is that it is not a power steering hose gone bad, but just a host-clamp that needs to be renewed (as it usually is...).
The alternator looking device is the compressor for the air conditioning system.

Check the power steering hoses at the ands where they are clamped on the metal outlets of the power steering devices; you will probably see rests of oil leaking out there...
