Morning everyone ...

Jumped in my '85 300D that I bought last month and drove through the desert (100 degrees last couple days) up to Laughlin, Nevada. With the a/c on she averaged 26.14 mpg for the 500 mile round trip. I'm very happy with that.

Two areas of concern. She's smooth as silk at a 65-75 mph cruise but under a slight load, say an uphill climb, I get a vibration that goes right away if I back off (even off) the throttle. I'm inclined to address the u-joint/flex coupling even though both looked and felt fine on inpection. The joint could be tight but dry?? Opinion ....

second concern. The a/c works fine and is ice cold but I noticed that it's on full a/c regardless of the temp setting. Low speed blower works fine as does the high speed but on the "auto" setting the blower is at the 3 or 4 setting but just stays there. Temp never varies regardless of temp wheel setting and blower speed never varies. Duct control, on/off work fine. Any thoughts on this?
