There is nothing wrong with the coolant pump at all?

What i want to know is is there a nipple type bit on the coolant pully? or can i take the pully off and remove this nipple effect. as the fan will not go near the pully with this thing sticking out.

Im guessing that this nipple is part of an old fan but is still connected to the pully. if this is removed then i can theoretically fit my fan.

Ive done pictures above and explained it as best as i can.
