I think you need to ensure that you've spliced into the correct wires - they are quite hard to discern, so much so that I actually took the socket (that the LH module plugs into) apart somewhat by cutting the small zip tie that holds all the wires in place in order to best see exactly where they went.

Once I cut each wire, I then confirmed the selection by using a continuity tester-I plugged one end into the receptacle/female end in the socket face (right next to where it's numbered) then I connected the other end of the tester to the cut wire. With continuity established, I knew I had the right wires.

Another possibility: perhaps you didn't splice the pairs correctly from the relay. A continuity teter can confirm this too.

Lastly, did you ensure the relay is getting power? When it's powered/actuated, it clicks audibly and a small light comes on.
