Can I assume coolant is circulating through the engine if after warmup, the upper radiator hose becomes warm? The reason I ask is that after removing and replacing the drivers head on the 4.5, coolant seeps from the union between the water pump and upper radiator hose fitting. The gasket is new and I applied some permatex. Also, after some revving of the engine, and opening the hood, I noticed a greater amount of coolant had been splashed around the engine bay.
I'll tighten the clamps and nuts for now, and I'm pretty sure I removed all the rags from the various open holes, so I don't think there is a blockage. Maybe its normal for things to leak for a while after they've been torn apart.

Also, yesterday I loosened the slack on the water pump pulley belts. I remember reading in this forum that over tightening will damage the shaft.
