Jim is right.
On my last trip from my house in Southern California to Las Vegas, it is 250 miles one way, and I achieved 25.9 mpg on the way there, with speeds averaging 80-85 mph.
Over the last 4 years though, my cumulative mileage is averaging about 22.5 mpg in mixed driving. Not too shabby....
