There is a balancing advantage with rebuilding your own injectors-if you have a pop tester.

Even *rebuilt* bosch injectors should be pop tested to check the spray pattern.

Bosch injectors performance spec is 10 bars tolerance. Mercedes only allows 5 bars. So, you can buy 5 rebuilt injectors and not meet Mercedes balance criteria.

All the old diesel mechanics I've meet seem to prefer rebuilding an old set- they reuse the existing shims and they will ussually still pop test within the Mercedes range.

Ppl seem to report a wide range on injector life. I have never decided if it's just a difference in what is acceptable to the individual owner or actual wear.
