I bought TWO MB Diesels this month and I am so happy! I sold my wife's 2002 VW TDI and bought her a 1984 190D in excellent condition, paid $750 for it. She has driven it almost 1,000 miles so far and it hasn't used a drop of oil. I had to put a new A/C compressor on it but that's all. Great little car IMHO.

I ran across a 1982 300SD, tired paint, 127,000 on the odometer( not actual, I am most sure), tranny needs some TLC and adjusting, multiple vacuum leaks, new tires, perfect interior, A/C works but not really cold, just cool....$500! This car starts flawlessly, no smoke, I've driven nearly 500 miles since I picked it up and oil level is perfect.

I am now the proud owner of an '85 SD, '82 SD, and an '84 190D. Man it's been a good month!
