Looks like I may end up going through my insurance and letting them subrogate against Geico. Geico has informed me that the jeep the kid just bought was not showing up as being covered.

They have assigned a separate adjustor to review this which prevents them from even offering a rental at this point. They have said this will take two to three days. The rental isn't a huge deal as we have not sold my wife's van as of yet.

An additional factor is the local Mercedes owned body shop is telling me that my insurance company will pay no questions asked, but Geico will not want to pay their labor rate. By the way looks like damage is going to be a minimum of $5000.

My question is whether I'll ever see my deductible back and how will it affect my rates.
