Mbz Parts Cost Skyrockteing
GOt real sticker shock this AM. Been trying to get 'heater hoses' for my 94 sl-600. None in stock in USA. 8-10 days from The Fatherland. Th ecritical one is a 1978 part # and used on over 20 models too ($5.65) Been a regular customer of parts floks there for 20+ years. Checked price for engine compartment main wiring harness (the old Insulation turns to dust problem). In the last year (I checked then) the price has gone from $900 to $ 2900!!! ETA's (same wire to dust problem)have gone from $1700& $1850 each to $3500 and $2900!! Parts man said he has seen price increases of over 500% ,especially on parts for older cars (those not current models). His suspicion is MBZ is trying to kill off the older cars by raising parts prices tremendously and also not stocking them any more either. So what was once in stock or 3 days max is noe 8-10 working days to get and 5 times as much!!
