I have a good idea, well, good to me. I think it would be very very cool if there were autobahn like roads built between Houston and Dallas, and Houston and San Antonio. The only thing is, in order to drive on the highway, you would need to present a special license stating that you took a special course on how to safely handle a car at high speeds. Anything over a certain weight would not be allowed, like buses, 18-wheelers, a few SUVs and even some pick ups. I think it would be VERY VERY cool. The closest we ever got to this was a bill that would increase the speed limit between Houston and Dallas to 80 and between Houston and Beaumont to 75. They were both killed though. The highest speed limits found on these routes are 70 most of the way up to Dallas, and 65 for most of the way to Beaumont, except a small section of I-10 near Beaumont that has a 70 mph limit. Like anyone actually follows the limits anyway!
