I had a job checking on filling stations that took me from gaylord to bad axe to midland and i got to drive alot of the back roads. I always stopped when i saw another MB for sale and despite the tons of rust they were asking ungodly prices for the things. im supprised you did alright. well i guess merry early christmas.
One thing i always found amusing was the stares i would get as i rolled up to one of the stores i had to visit and i would leave it idle (lock with 2nd key).
most of the fudgeies heading north would give the SDl a sideways glance as if they expected to see a stream of oil and antifreeze flowing out from under the "noisy" car. it was pretty funny to over hear one guy say to his buddy. as they got out of their beat up monte carlo and swagered by the front of the benz. "Man that dont sound good".
well. i did have a slight injector knock at the time but still i would have thought more people might know diesel/gas sounds.
